Mega-operation in Argentina dismantles a global piracy network with more than eight million users.

In a new decisive step in the fight against organized crime in the audiovisual industry, a mega-operation was carried out in Argentina that dismantled a criminal network with up to 8 million paying users worldwide and a potential of more than 20 million customers. The operation, led by the Argentine judiciary, had the technical collaboration of LaLiga, the Alliance Against Audiovisual Piracy (Alianza), Nagravisión, and Telecom Argentina. In addition, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) is part of the process.

‘This operation marks a before and after in the fight against digital piracy in Latin America. The scale of this network shows that audiovisual fraud is a problem of transnational organized crime. From LaLiga, we will continue working with the authorities, ALIANZA, and our partners to protect the industry, the clubs, and above all, the fans,’ said Javier Tebas, President of LaLiga.
